Getting The Most From Seminars and Training Events

April 5th, 2012 by Ruth Narveson

There is no question that attending training seminars, company sponsored events and national conventions are very valuable if you want to grow your home based business or increase your knowledge and value to the market place, however, the cost to attend these types of events can strain an already strained budget for a struggling entrepreneur.

So when my business mentor, Ann Seig, held a webinar on how to make going to an out-of-town event a profitable venture I was all ears. http://www.ran.therenegadeblog.com/no-excuses-3-summit-roi

I’m wanting to attend the No Excuses 3 Summit in Las Vegas, coming up in a couple of weeks.

If you don’t know what No Excuses is let me take a moment to fill you in.  It’s one of the premier training events of the internet and network marketing industry, where the top money makers, leaders and experts come and share pure gold information without pitch for 3 solid days.  Lives are transformed and fortunes are made when attendees apply the knowledge they learn.

So you can see why I want to go.  This is going to be a big investment of my time and money and want to take advantage of every bit of it.

The idea of having a strategy prior to going to an event was new to me.  So I’ve had to give it some thought.

Every event is a chance to make opportunity happen.  But the trick is to not only have the diligence, but the awareness of opportunities and sense of what you would like to see happen.

Without preparation and preplanning it’d be like planning a vacation without any destination or itinerary in place.

So here’s my plan

First I want to come prepared

I plan to bring my Zi8 camera, my MacBook Pro, and a list of people I want to interview.

My mission is to bring home information that will help entrepreneurial women who want build a cash flowing profitable internet based business.

I’ve looked over the list of speakers and there are several that I have listed that I would like to interview and get some inside tips from.  I plan to contact them prior to the NES3 event to introduce myself and tell them what my mission will be.

I also read a blog this week on how to send out live tweets during an event and then using that information later to make a blog post.  What a great idea.

I have several friends who would love to attend NES3 but can’t make it.  I also know there are many more in the same boat.  I thought it would be a great idea to make some short videos recapping the Top 3 Golden Nuggets that I learned from each speaker and then have an opt-in page where they would be available for a very small fee.

This would be a great way to put into practice some of the social media and marketing skills I’ve been learning as a member of the Renegade Marketing Team and use Facebook PPC as well as list segmentation to market this product. (If you don’t know what list segmentation is you’ll need to check out The Renegade Team-It’s the brain child of Eric Walker-Ann’s Social Media manager-and the best way I’ve heard of to use Facebook to promote your business without violating unspoken social rules)

Finally, I have plans to develop a blog for Building “You Inc” Online.  Much of the material I will gather from this event will be used as ideas for many of the blog posts I have planned.

I’ve been to many live events before as well as national conventions but I’ve never gone with a plan and a mission like I’ve I’m doing now with NES3.  Just from the pre-work I’ve done I’ve gained an immense amount of knowledge and value.

Before I end this post I want to leave with one more thought and goal I have.

I plan to find a group of people at NES3 that I can mastermind with after the event is over.

One of my favorite quotes and one I read several times a day comes from Ori Bengal of Word Press Made Easy.

”Without implementation, great information is nothing more than great information…when action is taken, it becomes money, or whatever result you have in mind.”

Did you find any of these tips helpful for your next live event?  Drop me a note in the comment
box.  I’d love to hear from you.

New Rules Of Money Part 2

New Rules of Money Part 2

Why following the old rules of money will not bring you the
financial security you were planning for.

  • Work hard
  • save money
  • get out of debt
  • live below your means

Seems like pretty good advice. So why is it after following that
advice your entire adult life that you are watching your financial
security go down the drain along with the economy? Continue Reading

The New Rules Of Money

The 8 New Rules of Money

In the summer of 2010 I started reading a book recommended by one of my
business mentors, Mike Dillard.  It was titled Rich Dad’s Conspiracy of The Rich,
The 8 New Rules of Money by Robert Kiyosaki.

The book is about financial education.  What I discovered from reading the
book was I really new very little about finances even though I am the main
keeper of our household books,  have bought and sold 2 homes, ran a small
home business, studied tax laws and used that information to avoid paying
unnecessary personal income taxes.  I’ve also successfully passed a very
intense tax audit because of excellent record keeping, and have been a
past president of a local investor’s club.

So with that being said I thought I would share with some of the financial
lessons I’ve learned about the “New Rules of Money”.

First let’s look at the old or obsolete Rules Of Money.

Ordinary Is Easy

November 17th, 2011 by Ruth Narveson

Change is hard

Have you ever tried to break and old habit and start a
new one?

How has that worked for you?  Find it hard to stick with it?

Have you gotten so discouraged and frustrated with yourself
that you’ve almost given up hope?

Don’t be so hard on yourself if you didn’t succeed.

Change is hard.  That is why 99% of us fail trying.

What is the difference between those that fail and those that
succeed to break a bad habit?  The 1% who succeed do so because
they don’t give up.

They give themselves time to develop new habits and build new
pathways in the brain.  This only happens by repeating the same
behavior over and over again until it becomes second nature.

It may take 21 days, 30days or several months.  The key is to
not give up.  When you fall off the wagon, brush yourself off and
get back on.  Be patient with yourself.

If change was easy everyone would be successful

Extraordinary Success-What It Really Takes

November 9th, 2011 by Ruth Narveson

Success…the accomplishment of what is desired or aimed at, achievement, attainment
of wealth, fame, prosperity etc.  (Webster)

You will have your own picture of what success means to you but the key word here is
accomplishment…a completion or achievement of a goal.

If you want greater success you will need to set bigger goals.  Bigger goals mean bigger
challenges, better skill sets. It means becoming an expert at what you want to achieve. Continue Reading

The Power Of Habits

November 7th, 2011 by Ruth Narveson

“We are what we repeatedly do.” Aristotle

If you are not as successful as you would like to be it may be as simple as looking at your daily habits
to see where you are falling short.  Studies have shown that 95% of everything we do, think, feel, and
achieve is the result of habits.

We live our lives on autopilot automatically repeating actions and responding to situations without thinking.
This is a good thing.  If you had to consciously think about everything you did you would find it mentally exhausting.

You Sow What You Reap

November 3rd, 2011 by Ruth Narveson

You Sow What You Reap.

Nope. It’s not a typo. You’ve heard the expression, “You Reap What You Sow.”

It speaks to the Principle Of The Harvest. You get out of life exactly what you put into it.

Or as one of my favorite success gurus, Tony Robbins says, “You can’t get out of
life what you’re not willing to put into it. Want more love, give more love.  If you
want greater success, help others achieve more.”

What I want to talk about in this piece is another principle that comes as a consequence
of reaping what you sow.  It’s Sowing What You Reap. I call it the Principle of Continuation.

Are You Shaping Your Destiny?

November 1st, 2011 by Ruth Narveson

You have a picture in your mind of what you want your life to look like. It doesn’t matter if you are 10 years old or 70 years old we all dream and desire a certain type of life.

It’s your destiny.

I used to think I had very little control over how my life was going to turn out.

I had dreams and desires, most of them were pretty typical of a young girl growing up in the 60′s and living a sheltered life on a farm. I would dream about my future husband and the four children I wanted and what our house would look like. I would lay on my back on a clear summer day and watch the planes fly overhead and dream about taking a trip to some exotic place. I would dream about meeting famous people and experiencing strange cultures. I’d watch the US Open and dream about becoming a famous tennis player, even though I’d never even hit a tennis ball before and the only courts I had access to were broken, abandoned slabs of cement and no traces of a net. I’d dream about riding a bicycle along country roads for hours at a time but the only bike in our yard was an old blue Schwinn with no tires. It was very difficult to ride around the farmyard on steel rims sinking into the soft soil.

So you can see my life was a long ways from where I wanted to go. Continue Reading

Build A Foundation Of Trust In Yourself

February 3rd, 2011 by Ruth Narveson

One of my favorite “success” mentors  is Eben Pagan.

The other day I was listening to one of his lectures from “Self Made Wealth” where he talks about Inner Wealth-How Inner Wealth Creates Outer Wealth.

He opens his lecture with this statement:
“Your exterior world is a printout of what you have going on in the inside.  Physical reality is a projection of your emotional, mental, and spiritual life.  Whatever is going on inside prints out on the outside.  So if you are not getting the results you want on the outside you have to go to work on the inside.”

So if you want to live the life of your dreams you will need to start with your inner life and begin living a life that is congruent with how you view yourself. Continue Reading

Failing Yourself to Success

April 1st, 2010 by Ruth Narveson

Do you have a desire to succeed?

Do you know the difference between someone who is unsuccessful and someone who succeeds?

The one who succeeds has failed more than the one who hasn’t.

To be successful you have to be willing to put yourself on the line, be willing to face your fears, be willing to take risks and be willing to fail. Continue Reading
